Changing engine oil on Nissan Murano

Engine oil needs to be changed periodically. It's fairly easy done on Nissan Murano. There are just few very simple steps you need to follow.

Step 1

Make sure car is switched off.

Locate engine oil drain bolt under the vehicle and place oil drain container below. Don't forget to open drain plug and air intake (if equipped) on the drain container.

Unscrew the oil drain bolt with 14mm socket or wrench (size can other on your vehicle). Let the oil fully leak in the oil drain container.

Step 2

Locate oil filter and place oil drain container under the oil filter.

Unscrew oil filter with oil filter wrench. Some amount of engine oil will leak out.

Step 3

Moisturize rubber seal on the new oil filter with the leaked oil to improve future seal.

Install new oil filter and slightly tight with oil filter wrench.

Screw in oil drain bolt tight and remove the oil drain container.

Wipe engine oil drops from the engine.

Step 4

Open the hood and locate engine oil cap.

Open the engine oil cap and insert the funnel.

Pour fresh engine oil, amount and type should be read in user manual. Usually it's 4.2 quarts of 5w-30 engine oil.

Remove the funnel and close the engine oil cap hand tighten.

Close the hood. Run the car. Make sure there is no oil leakage.

Step 5

If you need to reset engine oil maintenance screen, navigate to "Engine Oil" in the "Maintenance" section and select "Reset".

Don't forget to control the oil level with the oil dipstick.
